Now think about your home. Do you live in the city or in a village? Do you cycle to school, do you take a bus or do your parents drop you off by car? Do you feel you have everything you need in your house?
This is what this goal is about. It’s about making sure that everybody, children or adults, have a safe house to live in, that they have access to transport so they can go to school or to work, and that the city or village they live in is safe, clean and environmentally-friendly. What does that mean? It means that cities and villages should have parks and other green areas, that they should be safe from natural disasters like floods or earthquakes.
The UN is trying to make sure that, by 2030 (only 19 years from now!) people just like you will be able to go to work by using public transport, that they will live in a safe and healthy city that is also suited for more vulnerable groups like people with disabilities or older people, like your grandparents.
Do you think this goal is an important one for the futures?
