This goal is all about taking action to fight climate change! We have discussed this topic elsewhere too, but what should countries actually do in order to have a positive impact?

You may have recently heard of the wildfires spreading in Australia. Well, this is happening in many more places than you may think (California (US), Greenland, Sweden, Greece, and the list goes on..). But it’s not just about wildfires! Heat deaths, hunger, drowning, “natural” disasters, water shortages, and unbreathable air are all the effects of climate change that we see today and that will get worse in the futures, unless we take action.

This is why the United Nationswants that, by 2030, countries will be more prepared when facing disasters like tsunamis and hurricanes. It is important to raise awareness about these issues, so that people are educated and put more pressure on the policy-makers

There is a big chance that, if you’re reading this, you come from a developed nation that has more resources to use when dealing with the effects of climate change. But what about developing nations? Sadly, they are often the ones most affected and have the least resources to fight back or to recover. This is why the UN wants all developed countries to collect $100 billion annually by 2030 in order to help those in need.

Now that you have learned about the horrible futures that might await you if people continue to live the same way they do today, perhaps you want to make a change in your life, too! Luckily, there’s plenty of things you can do. Think twice and recycle your food packaging the next time you eat, and teach a friend to do the same. Be mindful of your own actions, educate others and pressure those in power to act. Together, we can fight global warming.
