Futures
Hey, it’s Flint again!
Have you ever thought about what our futures could look like? Well, let me start with showing you what ‘futures’ actually means! I think most of you understand this word, but there is so much more to discover!
Let’s start this adventure together!
So, the futures. Did you know that there are many possible futures? Anything could happen really. This is why I talk about the futures and not of (one single) future. Based on the things people do or don’t do today, you will see different futures. Let’s say you have a test tomorrow. If you choose to study today, you will probably pass this test. However, if you choose not to study, it is possible that you will fail this test. So different futures are based on what you do.
Sometimes people think about their futures, but mostly in a short-term way. People think about what they will eat for dinner, what trip they will make during the holidays, what job they would like to pursue or what film they want to watch in the theatres. But sometimes people forget to think about the futures in a long-term way. What will happen in 30, 50 or even 100 years from now?.
Thinking about our futures in this long-term way is something that doesn’t happen that often. I want to show you how important it is to make more time for this! When you start thinking about possible futures, you can think about the things you want and don’t want to see in these futures. Once you know what you want, you can work towards that goal! Let’s say you would like a plastic-free ocean in 20 years from now, so life underwater will thrive again. Then you could start today by throwing your trash in the bin and using less plastic. This way we have a better chance of keeping the oceans clean.
